A total of 19 projects with an overall contract value of 3.1 billion yuan ($482.8 million) - a historical high - were signed during the 11th China-ASEAN Mining Cooperation Forum and Exhibition 2021, which closed on May 21 in Nanning, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region.

The China-ASEAN Mining Cooperation Forum and Exhibition has been held 10 times, with business talks held for more than 200 projects and 27 projects promoted during previous events. A total of 66 projects have been signed with a total contract value of 14.5 billion yuan.

Activities such as sub-forums, seminars and project signing ceremonies were held both online and on-site during the event, further deepening exchanges and cooperation between the Chinese and ASEAN mining sectors.

The 19 new projects cover various areas spanning mining cooperation, investment, financing and platform construction, including business investment cooperation in Vietnamese mining and the China-ASEAN mining industrial park.

In addition, a China-ASEAN seminar on satellite remote sensing was held for the first time during this year's event, promoting the deep application of China's satellite image data for natural resources in ASEAN countries and benefiting ASEAN's regional economic development.

Guangxi will give full play to its geographic location as it lies close to ASEAN to establish new cooperation platforms, such as a regional association for green industrial development of mining, in order to realize sustainable regional development.
