The first phase of the China-Uganda International Capacity Cooperation Industrial Park was officially put into operation on Oct 23, which will end the history of a Uganda without fertilizer plants or glass factories.

The Sukulu Phosphate Rock Comprehensive Industrial Development Project, where the project is located, is a key project for economic and trade cooperation between China and Uganda.

The park was built by Liuzhou Eleventh Metallurgical Construction Group. When fully completed, it will include a steel plant producing 300,000 metric tons per year, a phosphate fertilizer plant with an output of 100,000 metric tons per year, a dressing plant making one million metric tons per year, a customs supervision warehouse and a logistics park.

The first phase consists of creating an office life base, a mining site, the dressing plant, the phosphate fertilizer plant, a non-burning brick factory, a machine repair center, an inspection and testing center, and a park dispatching center.

The second phase includes the steel plant, a glass factory, a ferroalloy plant, a tin smelter, a shea butter processing plant and a humic acid fertilizer plant, which will be completed and put into operation at the end of July 2019.

Upon completion of the whole project, it will provide nearly 2,000 employment positions for locals and achieve an output value of nearly $350 million, which will greatly help in the economic development of Tororo district, Uganda.
