A trade delegation from Guangdong province obtained orders worth of more than 6 billion yuan ($894.7 million) during a major fair in Hong Kong featuring toys and games, the event's organizers said.

The 49th HKTDC Hong Kong Toys and Games Fair, a three-day event jointly organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council and Messe Frankfurt (HK), concluded on Thursday, after bringing together more than 1,000 exhibitors to showcase a wide range of inspiring toys and games.

Of the exhibitors, more than 300 were from Guangdong, a toy manufacturing and trade base.

Strong manufacturing in Guangdong, together with Hong Kong's advantages in trade services, will not only help Guangdong-based enterprises improve their international business capabilities but also promote cooperation within the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, according to exhibitors.

"We have won more than 20 million yuan in orders, two months more orders than in previous years," said Zhan Kada, general manager of Guangdong Qman Toys Industry Co.

The fair, which resumed after two years, helps toy companies to further understand the international market and industrial outlook, Zhan said.

Lin Bobing, a marketing manager with Guangdong Woma Animation Toys Co, said, "Customers have shown great interest in ordering our products, revealing positive signals for expansion of the international toy market."

With the resumption of quarantine-free travel between Hong Kong and the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong's business travel has been gradually returning to normal, according to Sophia Chong, deputy executive director of the HKTDC.

The trade council said that a series of international exhibitions and conferences will take place in the months ahead, with an expectation of more participants from the mainland.
