Guangzhou Award marks 10-year milestone
On Dec 12, the 2022 International Urban Innovation Leadership Summit and the 10th Anniversary Celebration Conference of Guangzhou International Urban Innovation Award (Guangzhou Award) opened in Guangzhou.
Representatives of international organizations as well as experts and scholars from more than 100 cities around the world attended the event online and onsite.
At the opening ceremony, Guangzhou Mayor Guo Yonghang and Metropolis Secretary General Jordi Vaquer joined other representatives in congratulating the Guangzhou Award on its achievements over the past decade, while affirming its positive contribution to urban innovation and sustainable development.
At the ceremony, the Guangzhou Award Urban Innovation Evaluation System Report (Draft) and the Fifth Guangzhou Award Shortlisted Cities Research Report were released.
As the first international award named after a Chinese city, the Guangzhou Award has been successfully held five times every two years, with a total of 1,361 cases from 556 cities in 96 countries (regions) participating in the evaluation. It has now become an international platform for global cities to learn from each other.
The International Urban Innovation Leadership Seminar is set to be held the year after the Guangzhou Awards were presented to inspect the case studies of award-winning cities. It has already been successfully held on three occasions.
The theme of this year's summit and celebration is "Innovation Leads, Creating a Better Future for Cities." This event will run online from Dec 12 to 15.
