Shenzhen's economic output and gross domestic product per capita in 2035 will double from 2020, according to the city's outline for its 14th five-year plan and its long-term targets for 2035, which were released on Wednesday.

Last year, the city's GDP was more than 2.76 trillion yuan ($432.76 billion) while its GDP per capita reached 157,600 yuan.

The five-year plan's outline sets economic growth targets that the city's total economic volume will surpass 4 trillion yuan, with the added value of strategic emerging industries reaching more than 1.5 trillion yuan in 2025. Disposable income for each resident will hit 90,000 yuan on average.

Building a global digital pioneer city is a major strategy for Shenzhen from 2021 to 2025. It also proposes to strengthen public services for its residents. It will provide 400,000 sets of public housing by 2025, while offering 673,000 public compulsory education degrees.

Shenzhen will also enhance its role in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area over the next five years.
