No new confirmed COVID-19 cases in past 18 days in Zhanjiang
According to the fifth press conference on the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) epidemic prevention and control held by the Zhanjiang government on Mar 2, no new COVID-19 cases have been confirmed in the city for 18 consecutive days.
As of Mar 2, Zhanjiang has reported a total of 22 confirmed cases of COVID-19, of which 19 have been discharged from the hospital. The remaining three confirmed patients treated in the hospital are in stable condition and have been categorized in the common type of the disease. There have been no cases of deaths and no medical staff infections so far.
A total of 67 Zhanjiang medical team members have been sent to Hubei province, managing a total of 856 patients infected with COVID-19 and curing more than 200 patients, including three critical cases. At present, another 105 members have completed training and are on standby.
The Zhanjiang government has also formulated a security work plan for the medical staff and their family members who assisted Hubei province. Protective equipment and daily necessities were provided for the medical team members in time, and community workers were organized to care for the family members of those medical staff. In addition, a preferential education policy has been introduced first in Guangdong province for the children of medical team members in Zhanjiang.
