Greater Bay Area kung fu film week wraps up
With the performance of the Kung-Fu Legend stage show, the closing ceremony of the 2019 China (Foshan) Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Kung Fu Film Week started in Foshan, Guangdong province on Dec 21.
The film week was the first of its kind named after the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area since the outline development plan for the Greater Bay Area was unveiled in February.
Zhang Jin, also known as Max Zhang, won the Best Actor prize, while Janice Man claimed the Best Actress award at the closing ceremony.
"Acting in a kung fu movie is both painstaking and dangerous," said Zhang. "I truly respect the behind-the-scenes staff and hope audiences will continue to support kung fu movies."
Man said that she never thought that she could be an action actress before, which required her to double her efforts due to the grueling physical requirements. She also expressed her hope that she can make more action movies in the future.
In recent years, Foshan, which is dubbed as the city of kung fu, has been building itself into a culture-oriented city. Making use of the first kung fu film week, along with the 27th Golden Rooster and Hundred Flowers Film Festival that was held in the city in November 2018, Foshan is aiming to create a film and television industry cooperation pilot zone in the Greater Bay Area.
China's Central Television reported on the kung fu film week on Dec 22, showcasing Foshan's three kung fu legends, Wong Fei-hung, Ip Man, and Bruce Lee, as well as the connection between the city and kung fu movies.
