Zhanjiang's imports and exports to ASEAN exceeds $580m
In the first three quarters of the year, Zhanjiang's imports and exports to ASEAN amounted to 4.12 billion yuan ($583.77 million), an increase of 13.7 percent year-on-year. Among them, exports were 2.26 billion yuan, up 19.7 percent, and imports were 1.86 billion yuan, up 7.2 percent.
During this period, Zhanjiang exported 3.77 billion yuan to ASEAN by general trade, an increase of 15.8 percent, accounting for 91.4 percent of Zhanjiang's total foreign trade value to ASEAN.
The foreign trade value of Zhanjiang's private enterprises to ASEAN reached 1.9 billion yuan, an increase of 2.6 percent, and that of state-owned enterprises reached 1.69 billion yuan, an increase of 27.3 percent.
Indonesia and Vietnam were Zhanjiang's main trading partners. In the first three quarters of the year, the imports and exports value to Indonesia and Vietnam were 1.22 billion yuan and 1.16 billion yuan, up 43 percent and 11.9 percent respectively.
The main export commodities were mechanical and electrical products, steel, as well as furniture. In the first three quarters of the year, Zhanjiang exported 650 million yuan worth of mechanical and electrical products to ASEAN countries, an increase of 8 percent, as well as 290 million yuan worth of exports of furniture and parts, an increase of 34.3 percent. In this period, Zhanjiang's imports from ASEAN countries were mainly coal, aquatic products, and pulp.
