Program enables HK youth to intern in Guangzhou's leading industries
The 2019 Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Hong Kong Youth Internship Program, an initiative aiming to help university students from Hong Kong seek internships in State-owned enterprises and leading firms, was launched on June 14.
According to the program, a total of 300 Hong Kong students will be split into eight groups and start an internship of four to six weeks in Guangzhou.
The program was launched by the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the People's Government of Guangdong Province, the Youth Development Commission and the Home Affairs Bureau of Hong Kong. Since 2015, the Hong Kong and Macao affairs office of Guangzhou has bridged more than 1,000 internship opportunities with Hong Kong youth for the program, with most of the internships offered by the world's top 500 companies.
According to a person-in-charge of the program, a group of 37 students stood out among more than 90 applicants this time and most of them began internships from June 17 to July 28 at banks, pharmaceutical companies, libraries, museums and high-tech firms in Guangzhou.
To offer Hong Kong youth a chance to deepen their understanding of Guangzhou's overall situation, including economic development, cultural creativity and various professional fields during their stay, we will cooperate with relevant departments in the city to provide full-dimensional support, ranging from advice to special instructors and customized travel routes for students on the weekends, said an official from the Hong Kong and Macao affairs office of Guangzhou.
