Zhang Wei

Zhang Wei is the Matthew Flinders Distinguished Chair at the Flinders University, a fellow of the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering, and a director of BioMarine.

Zhang is an internationally renowned expert in marine biotechnology and bioproducts with deep research and teaching experience in marine biotechnology and industrialization. He was a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Tokyo, the University of Adelaide and the University of Cambridge.

Zhang is a pioneer and leader in Australia's third-generation marine biotechnology industry, and his outstanding academic and industrial contributions have led to his election as a fellow of the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering in 2022. He is also one of the most entrepreneurial academic leaders with a highly proven ability to innovate in driving research translation, product transformation research, and increasing corporate influence.

Zhang serves as a research director of the Marine Bioproducts Cooperative Research Centre, Australia.
