Yan Ning
Yan Ning is a Chinese structural biologist, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, and a specially-appointed professor of the Changjiang Scholars Program. She is the founding dean of the Shenzhen Medical Academy of Research and Translation and the director of the Shenzhen Bay Laboratory.
In 2000, she graduated from the Department of Biology at Tsinghua University and obtained a doctorate in molecular biology from Princeton University. She later became a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Molecular Biology at Princeton University. In 2007, she returned to China and became a professor and doctoral supervisor at the College of Medicine of Tsinghua University.
To date, she has published more than 10 papers in international mainstream journals such as Nature, Science, and Cell, with her main research achievements being the structure and principles of glucose transporters. In 2017, Yan became the first Shirley M. Tilghman Professor of Molecular Biology at Princeton University.
