Dunhuang online cultural event connects China and Sweden
The "Global Link of Dunhuang Culture" event was successfully held online across Lanzhou, Dunhuang, and Stockholm on Dec 16.
The event featured a presentation titled "Dunhuang and East-West Cultural Exchange" by Zhao Shengliang, a researcher at Dunhuang Academy.
Senior officials from the Foreign Affairs Office of the People's Government of Gansu Province, the Chinese Embassy in Sweden, the Dunhuang Academy, and the Dunhuang People's Government attended the event.
Wan Degang, charge d'affaires of the Chinese Embassy in Sweden, said that the event offered deeper insight into the artistic and historical significance of Dunhuang and the Silk Road, strengthening cultural confidence and supporting international cooperation.
Zhao Shengliang traced the development of Dunhuang culture through its cave architecture, statues, and murals, highlighting its inclusive character.
Other officials expressed hope to further promote Dunhuang as a bridge for cultural exchange with Sweden and explored potential cooperation in areas like heritage preservation and tourism.
Since 2022, the "Global Link of Dunhuang Culture" event series has been held 19 times across 17 countries including Germany, Russia, New Zealand, and the United States.
