Zhoushan's foreign trade sees 6.1% growth in first two months

In the first two months of this year, Zhoushan in East China's Zhejiang province achieved a total foreign trade value of 59.04 billion yuan ($8.15 billion), marking a 6.1 percent increase compared to the same period last year, according to data from Zhoushan Customs.

Exports reached 18.66 billion yuan in the first two months, up 2.9 percent, while imports totaled 40.38 billion yuan, rising by 7.6 percent.

Exports for seafood were a standout, increasing by 24.5 percent to 1.49 billion yuan. Mechanical and electrical product exports also saw significant growth, jumping 43.1 percent to 7.6 billion yuan. Within this category, non-main engine marine parts rose by 37.3 percent to 2.97 billion yuan, and ship exports increased by 18.9 percent to 2.61 billion yuan.

For imports, crude oil amounted to 31.1 billion yuan in January and February, a 7.9 percent increase, comprising 77.0 percent of the city's total imports for the period.

Refined oil imports surged by 40.6 percent to 3.28 billion yuan, and imports of mechanical and electrical products nearly doubled to 2.33 billion yuan. Basic organic chemicals, primarily methanol, ethylene glycol, and paraxylene, saw a 110.6 percent increase, reaching 480 million yuan.
