Updated : 2024-12-16 (chinadaily.com.cn)

According to data from Zhoushan municipal economic and information technology bureau, from January to October this year, the city's shipbuilding and repair industry above a designated size achieved an output of 35.08 billion yuan ($4.82 billion), a year-on-year increase of 27.8 percent.

During this period, three major indicators of Zhoushan's shipbuilding industry – shipbuilding completion, new orders, and existing orders – grew by 80.4 percent, 35.9 percent, and 48.9 percent respectively. This significant achievement has helped Zhejiang province reclaim its position as the third-largest shipbuilding province in China.

The city's ship repair volume accounted for about 40 percent of the national total and over 20 percent of the global total during the same period, solidifying its status as the world's largest ship repair and conversion base.

This year, Zhoushan has attracted 15 high-end shipbuilding and marine engineering projects, including those from Singapore's Anda Shipping and Guangzhou Wenchuan Heavy Industry, with a total investment exceeding 6 billion yuan.

High-end products such as a 154,000-metric-ton shuttle tanker and a LNG dual-fuel container ship with 11,500 twenty-foot equivalent units have been delivered or launched.

The city has developed and applied green intelligent equipment such as ultra-high-pressure water jet derusting robots and intelligent spraying robots, promoting the high-end, intelligent, and green development of its shipbuilding industry.
