Zhoushan Changhong International Shipyard Co in Dinghai district, Zhoushan, Zhejiang province began building the first of 10 115,000-metric-ton crude oil tankers for an overseas client in its smart workshop, according to local media on Oct 27.
According to Clarkson Research, Zhoushan Changhong International Shipyard Co ranks among the top 30 globally for shipbuilding orders in the first half of the year.
Dinghai's manufacturing sector saw an investment of 12.34 billion yuan ($1.73 billion) in this year's first three quarters, with an impressive 85 percent growth.
Major projects are unlocking investment potential and driving significant growth in manufacturing. According to the Zhoushan Dinghai district economic and information bureau, 11 billion yuan was invested across 33 projects in the first three quarters of the year, accounting for 89 percent of the district's total.
This year, Dinghai launched 50 digital and intelligent transformation projects, 2.5 times more than last year. Changhong International has invested 120 million yuan in smart workshops, reducing labor needs from 200 to 80 workers per unit area.
The Zhoushan Zhongrun Intelligent Equipment Production Base, a 500 million yuan project, broke ground in the Dinghai Industrial Park on Oct 22, further boosting Dinghai's equipment manufacturing industry.
