Dinghai Ancient City in Zhoushan, Zhejiang province, which recently underwent a three-year micro-renewal, welcomed visitors with its new and improved appearance during the National Day holiday.

As a historical and cultural city in Zhejiang, Dinghai has a history of over 1,200 years. The micro-renewal of Dinghai Ancient City began in 2021 in an effort to preserve its cultural heritage and promote urban renewal.

The Wenfang Sibao Garden in Dinghai Ancient City showcases the city's traditional culture of respecting education and emphasizing learning. It is a key area of the micro-renewal effort.

At the center of the garden, Kuiguangge, once a landmark of Dinghai Ancient City and the only tower in the city, was destroyed by a fire in the 1970s.

The newly rebuilt Kuiguangge not only restores a piece of history but also gives more people the opportunity to learn about Dinghai's cultural heritage. From the five-story, octagonal tower, visitors can enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding landscape.

Other areas, such as the blocks in the east gate of Dinghai Ancient City and four historical cultural streets, have been restored to their former glory. The ancient city now features popular spots like traditional Chinese medicine experience centers and cafes that appeal to young people.

With the ancient city's vitalization, many investors interested in innovative businesses have come to negotiate, turning revitalized old buildings into new consumer venues.
