As of 4:00 pm on Oct 7, Zhoushan saw over 2.3 million tourists during the National Day holiday and 573,000 vehicles travelling across the Zhoushan Cross-sea Bridge, according to data from the Zhoushan bureau of culture, tourism, radio, television, and sports.
The data indicates that most visitors preferred road trips and self-guided tours. Those visitors were primarily from within the province or surrounding provinces of Jiangsu, Fujian, Jiangxi, and Anhui, as well as the city of Shanghai.
The Putuo Mountain and Zhujiajian scenic areas in Zhoushan remained highly popular, receiving 536,000 visitors and generating over 400 million ($56.62 million) yuan in tourism revenue by 4:00 pm on Oct 7.
Also attracting much interest were cultural tourism offerings in the city, with road trips, family outings, and rural tourism gaining popularity. Tourists enjoyed picturesque scenery at attractions along the Donghai Cultural Corridor.
Throughout the holiday, the city hosted vibrant online and offline cultural and tourism events. By 10:00 am on Oct 7, there were 150 cultural and tourism activities, 69 community cultural events, and 55 artistic performances.
There were 2,241 volunteers providing services such as traffic guidance, tourist assistance, and ticket refunds during the National Day holiday.
