Zhoushan Customs cleared 441 treadmills for export, shipped by a local customs brokerage company aboard the Hengyang 9 vessel on Aug 5.

As the Paris Olympics stir global enthusiasm for sports, exports of Chinese-made sporting goods has surged.

"With strong support from customs, we have declared three batches of sports equipment at Zhoushan port this year, exporting nearly 3,000 fitness devices," said Chen Bingquan, the company's business manager.

Ningbo-Zhoushan Port, a key container hub of China, features 38 container routes connecting Belt and Road countries and has become a crucial channel for exporting Chinese sporting goods.

In the first half of this year, Zhoushan port exported 1,657 batches of sports equipment, a 35.71-percent year-on-year increase, with a total value exceeding 560 million yuan ($78.4 million), up 43.28 percent.

Zhoushan Customs has guided businesses in proper declarations, using pre-declaration and appointment inspection measures to shorten clearance times and reduce costs.
