Construction recently commenced on the Zhoushan International Aquatic City Cold Chain Logistics Park, a project with a total investment of 1.5 billion yuan ($206.9 million).
Located in Putuo district, next to the current site of Zhoushan International Aquatic City, the project aims to become a modern hub for cold chain storage, logistics services, seafood trading, and new retail of aquatic products.
The project will be developed in two phases. Phase one, which recently broke ground, is focused on foundational work such as pile and ground construction. This phase includes building a central cold chain warehouse, a cold chain service center, and related facilities, covering an area of about 36,000 square meters with an estimated investment of 880 million yuan.
Phase two, set to begin in 2026, will feature a comprehensive seafood trading center, a new retail center for seafood, and a digital dock. This phase will span around 32,000 square meters, with a total construction area of about 66,000 sq m and an estimated investment of 620 million yuan. The entire project is expected to be completed in three to four years.
The logistics park will provide roughly 50,000 metric tons of storage capacity, catering to the cold storage needs of seafood, meat, poultry, and vegetables. Additionally, the park will feature areas for sorting, quick freezing, and ice making, integrating new retail business models to offer a green, convenient, and intelligent consumption and leisure space for consumers and businesses alike.
