Huaniao Island (Flowers and Birds Island), lying at the northernmost tip of the Shengsi Archipelago in Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province, has recently seen an influx of visitors as it plays host to the 10th Beach Water Polo Tournament.
Water polo athletes from around the world have had the unique opportunity to visit the island and immerse themselves in its unique charm while engaging in competition.
"The scenery on this island is astonishingly beautiful," said Angela Watene from New Zealand, who works as the general manager of Shanghai Hailong Water Polo Team. "I have traveled to many places, but I am always captivated by Huaniao Island in China."
Sven Grumbrecht from Germany said that the people on the island are incredibly friendly. “Every time we come to compete on Huaniao Island, we are blessed with great weather. The sunlight and the ebb and flow of the waves make the competition even more challenging. I believe we will return to Huaniao Island for another tournament."
Basking in the sea breeze, admiring the ocean views, and savoring fresh seafood, foreign athletes who have traveled from afar have experienced a sense of romance that is unique to Huaniao Island.
In recent years, Huaniao Island has leveraged its natural resources to focus on fashion and art, highlighting romantic tourism experiences. Sports tourism has become a new growth driver for Huaniao Island's tourism development.
