As Super Typhoon Gaemi neared, Zhoushan authorities took swift action to ensure the safety of residents and visitors on July 23.

By 10 am, Lizhushan Ferry Terminal in Shengsi county was bustling with activity as tourists disembarked from a ferry after being safely evacuated from remote islands to the main island of Shengsi.

Amid the peak summer tourist season, Shengsi's islands were crowded with visitors. In response to the typhoon's trajectory, Zhoushan's maritime department initiated an evacuation plan, ensuring that by 5 pm, all tourists had been safely evacuated from remote islands such as Huanniao, Shengshan, and Gouqi.

Currently, there are 60 ongoing water construction projects in the Zhoushan area, including the Ningbo-Zhoushan Railway and Liuheng Bridge, with 44 non-powered construction vessels involved. By 2 pm, all construction projects were suspended, and 38 non-powered vessels had reached safe anchorage, with typhoon preparations in place for each vessel.
