On July 21, construction workers from the China Railway Bridge Bureau worked to clear the site after pouring the first segment of the main tower on Pier 5 of the Xihoumen Bridge on the Ningbo-Zhoushan Railway.
The first segment of the main tower was poured continuously for 44.5 hours, starting at 10 pm on July 18 and finishing at 6:30 pm on July 20, with a total of 4,652 cubic meters of concrete used. This marks the beginning of main tower construction for the Xihoumen Bridge.
The bridge is one of the most technically challenging and complex sea-crossing bridge projects in the world. Once completed, the Ningbo-Zhoushan Railway will connect the last unserved city in Zhejiang province, enhance the regional railway network, boost tourism, and promote the integration of Ningbo and Zhoushan into the Yangtze River Economic Belt.
