On June 23, the Anji Ocean marine research vessel, built by Zhoushan Hehui Ship Engineering Co, successfully launched out to sea with the aid of cylindrical rubber airbags.

The vessel measures 72.66 meters in length, 14 meters in width, and has a full-load draft of 4.3 meters. It is equipped with a Beidou navigation satellite system, offering a range of 10,000 nautical miles and wind resistance up to force 10, and can accommodate 40 people for up to 60 days of living and research tasks.

Powered by two 2000-kilowatt generator sets, the ship features a dual-propeller, meets modern research requirements with a rudderless 360° full-rotation positioning system, and supports energy-saving and emission reduction goals.

The highlight of this vessel is its all-electric propulsion technology. The construction process involved significant modifications due to the unique equipment on board, noted Xia Aping, general manager of Hehui Ship Engineering.

The vessel will now undergo outfitting operations, complete equipment debugging, and sea trials, with plans to be delivered and put into use by the end of July.

This vessel is Zhejiang's first privately-built 2000-ton all-electric marine research and testing ship, marking a significant milestone for Zhoushan in building intelligent research vessels and upgrading the local traditional marine economy, according to Xia.
