A spectacular sight unfolds as mussel breeding takes center stage in the waters near Gouqi Island in Shengsi County, Zhoushan, Zhejiang Province.
At this ranch, fishermen skillfully navigate small boats through the mussel farming structures, meticulously planting seedlings and monitoring the growth of mussels beneath the buoys.
Meanwhile, at the dock, others are industriously arranging seed cloth, setting seed ropes, dispersing seedlings, and stringing seed lines to bolster upcoming aquaculture endeavors.
Shengsi has allocated a generous 16,800 mu (1,120 hectares) to mussel breeding, solidifying its status as the premier production hub for Chinese mussels. Nearly 600 dedicated fishermen are actively involved in the thriving mussel breeding operations.
