Zhoushan in Zhejiang province will channel more resources into creating a more inclusive environment for individuals with disabilities, as outlined by local authorities.

Specifically, the city will establish five new barrier-free communities, complete barrier-free renovations on 180 households with people with disabilities, and improve transportation facilities, public facilities, and residential areas.

Construction on the barrier-free BRT bus rapid transit line and the barrier-free island for accessible island tourism are also steadily progressing.

Authorities aim to provide jobs for an additional 300 people with disabilities by organizing a special job fair and providing vocational skills training for 700 individuals with disabilities. The goal is to ensure a 100 percent employment rate for recent college graduates with disabilities.

The local government will also carry out emergency rehabilitation for 110 children with disabilities, provide rehabilitation assistance for 50 children with autism, supply basic assistive devices to 1,640 people with disabilities, and establish three self-help and mutual aid rehabilitation service centers for people with disabilities.

In addition, authorities will continue efforts to improve the social security and care service system for people with disabilities, with a focus on expanding the provision of public services tailored to the needs of this community.
