Zhoushan Port off to strong start in Q1

Zhoushan Port in Zhoushan, Zhejiang province experienced substantial growth in cargo throughput during the first quarter of this year, handling a total of 183 million metric tons, an increase of 6.63 percent year-on-year, according to authorities.

March alone witnessed a throughput of 66.97 million tons, setting a new historical record for a single month.

The port achieved a throughput of 20.14 million tons for foreign trade goods, marking a 20.36 percent year-on-year increase. Major cargo types such as containers, petroleum and natural gas, metal ores, grains, chemical raw materials, and products all experienced year-on-year growth of more than double digits during the same period. 

The port also handled 3.82 million tons of grain throughput in the first quarter, an uptick of 34.2 percent year-on-year.
