Zhoushan welcomes over 780,000 tourists during Qingming holiday

Zhoushan in Zhejiang province received 781,000 tourists during the just-concluded Qingming holiday, marking a year-on-year increase of 37.6 percent, according to authorities.

The tourism revenue generated over the period reached around 450 million yuan ($62.21 million).

The main tourist islands, including Putuo, Qushan, and Gouqi, collectively hosted around 244,000 visitors, while the Putuo Mountain and Zhujiajian scenic areas received a total of 193,000 visitors.

The city's transport infrastructure also experienced significant activity, with the Zhoushan Cross-Sea Bridge witnessing a total traffic flow of 214,000 vehicles, alongside substantial traffic on the Zhoushan-Daishan Bridge and Zhujiajian Bridge.

The passenger throughput at Putuoshan Airport saw a remarkable increase, reaching 19,000, representing a 55 percent year-on-year growth during the same period.

In terms of accommodations, cumulative nightly stays reached 141,000, a 57.8 percent year-on-year increase on a daily average basis. The average room occupancy rate stood at 38.66 percent, reflecting a notable 14.16 percentage point increase compared to the same period last year.

Specifically, 28 tourist hotels achieved an average room occupancy rate of 53.14 percent, marking a 15.44 percentage point increase from the previous year, while boutique homestays recorded an average room occupancy rate of 26.84 percent, reflecting a 12.84 percentage point increase from the previous year.

The city also hosted a total of 827 tour groups, accommodating 8,555 visitors, with the top three cities of origin for visitors being Qingdao, Hangzhou, and Suzhou.
