Zhoushan in East China's Zhejiang province recently published measures to attract foreign talent, local media reported on Feb 28.
Zhoushan will relax restrictions on age, educational background, and work experience for foreign talent in 12 categories, including high-tech professionals and skilled personnel. They will receive a work permit and residence permit valid for at least two years, according to these measures.
Zhoushan is focusing on attracting skilled and innovative foreign talent and encouraging foreigners with technological inventions and patents to start businesses in the city.
It is also encouraging sci-tech innovation platforms to bring in foreign experts, and local universities to recruit foreign academic experts and invite international academic organizations to conduct exchanges and cooperation.
The city also aims to attract research talent aged below 40 who graduated from one of the top 500 universities in the world and cultivate young outstanding sci-tech talent with international competitiveness.
Last year, the Zhoushan science and technology bureau published a guidebook for foreigners living and working in Zhoushan, as well as a collection of policies concerning foreign people working in China.
The city brought in 205 foreign experts in 2021, a year-on-year increase of 12.8 percent.
