Nine seafoods to satisfy your appetite in absence of fishing season

Fishing season in Zhoushan, an island city in East China's Zhejiang province, will be closed for the next four and a half months, from May 1 to September 16.

Local residents usually store up enough seafood to last them until the next fishing season. Here is a list of delicious seafood that can be enjoyed during the closed season.

Garrupa

Garrupa is the most popular seafood among Zhoushan natives. It can be braised, steamed or stewed. Farmed Garrupa in Zhoushan is a lifesaver for locals during the closed fishing season.

Clams

Clams are a great snack during warm summer nights. It can be fried with garlic and chili or steamed with eggs.

Mussels

Summer is the best time to enjoy mussels, and Shengsi-produced mussels will be available at markets soon. Despite its unattractive appearance, many can eat a whole bowl of simply boiled mussels in one sitting.

Jellyfish

Jellyfish is an important part of any dining table in Zhoushan. There are many ways to eat it, but jellyfish heads in sauce is the most popular.
