The Jintang Port Area of the Ningbo Zhoushan Port in Zhoushan saw a container vessel discharging over 8,500 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) at its Yongzhou Terminal on Nov 14.

The vessel, Mediterranean Saturn, is the largest one ever seen in the port in the number of TEU discharged since the terminal went into pilot production in 2010, contributing significantly to the terminal's target of handling 1.2 million TEUs this year. 

Yongzhou Terminal has handled nearly 1.08 million TEUs as of Oct 30 this year, surpassing the total number of TEU it handled last year. 

With the Ningbo and Zhoushan Ports being integrated in 2015, the Ningbo-Zhoushan Port handled 1.01 billion tons of cargo in 2017, becoming the first port in the world to handle over 1 billion tons of cargo in a year. 

The port has ranked 1st globally in cargo throughput for nine consecutive years. It handled 24.61 million TEUs in 2017, ranking 3rd in China and 4th globally in TEU throughput.
