A matchmaking conference on agricultural product trade organized by Zhoushan will be held at the China International Import Expo (CIIE) in Shanghai on Nov 8, in an effort to promote Zhoushan's international agricultural product trade center via the expo. 

The Matchmaking Conference of Zhejiang International Agricultural Product Trade Center will see representatives of 49 agriculture-involved companies and associations from 20 overseas countries and regions, including ADM, Bunge, Cargill, Louis Dreyfus, the world's top four grain traders.

Altogether seven projects will be signed at the conference, which are related to the import, processing, R&D of such agri-products as aquatic products and meat, as well as the establishment of cold chain centers and logistics parks, according to the Zhoushan Bureau of Commerce.

The Zhejiang International Agricultural Product Trade Center, located in the China (Zhejiang) Pilot Free Trade Zone in Zhoushan, is devoted to the international trade of meat rich in high-quality animal protein, high-quality vegetables and fruits, as well as bulk grain and oil commodities. 

CIIE opened on Nov 5 and will last until Nov 10 in Shanghai. It is the world's first state-level expo focusing on imports. Over 200 companies from Zhoushan have registered to attend the expo. 

"The expo presents a good opportunity for us to reach more desirable companies to import things from, and we cannot miss this opportunity," said Fang Zuyue, vice general manager of the Zhoushan-based Zhejiang Ocean Family Co. 

The company imported around $100 million of aquatic products every year, mainly from countries such as Japan, Norway, Canada and Chile. 

It will sign agreements with Cermaq ASA, the third largest salmon farming company from Norway, and a fish dealer from Japan on Nov 8 in Shanghai, for purchasing and jointly selling high-quality aquatic products.
