A delegation of representatives from Zhoushan's pelagic fishery companies met with fishery officials and senior diplomats from several African countries in Beijing from Sept 1 to 2, to discuss cooperation in the fishery sector between Africa and the city from Zhejiang province.
The delegation was led by Chen Jian, deputy executive director of the Zhoushan National Pelagic Fishery Base.
Chen introduced the development of Zhoushan's pelagic fishery as well as the construction of the city's national pelagic fishery base over the years, expressing a wish to cooperate with African countries in the fishery sector.
Both sides extended invitations to welcome each other for a visit, and further exchanged ideas about their respective national fishery policies and regulations.
The minister of fisheries in Zanzibar, Tanzania, mentioned his earlier visit to Zhoushan this May, during which he was impressed by the advanced fishery system of the city and the local people's hospitality.
He hoped that both the governments of Zhoushan and Zanzibar would seek close partnerships in the fishery sector for mutual benefit in the future.
As a leading fishery base in China, Zhoushan will keep seeking collaboration with African countries in the fishery sector, to promote the trade cooperation between China and Africa, and contribute to the construction of the Belt and Road Initiative.
