Zhujiajian, an island in Zhoushan, has recently embarked on a project to improve its street landscapes ahead of the second International Petroleum and Natural Gas Enterprises Conference, to be held in Zhoushan this October.
The improvement work got underway with the Zhujiajian Bridge in June, when the Putuoshan-Zhujiajian Administrative Committee launched a project to improve the landscape of the bridge's main entrance.
With an investment of 50 million yuan ($7.25 million) and covering 80,000 square meters, the project will focus on creating a giant lotus-like stone sculpture on the water and a lotus-patterned plant landscape which will have a set of lights that will be illuminated at night.
The plant landscape and the sculpture are expected to be completed this September and next February respectively.
Meanwhile, the administrative committee plans to invest another 10 million yuan in improving the infrastructure and landscape of the Lotus Road model street of Zhujiajian that has been in place since last October.
They will also make efforts to improve the garden landscape along the Jinsha Avenue of Zhujiajian by redesigning 14 green pieces of land, and turn the avenue into an ecological tourist destination.
