Zhoushan is to cooperate with the Ocean Investment Holding Co of the China Communications Construction Co on cruise businesses to develop its comprehensive marine tourism, local media have reported.

The two sides signed an agreement on the collaboration in Zhoushan on Aug 13. 

With an investment of no less than five billion yuan ($72.59 million), this project mainly involves exploring the city's marine and land tourism resources, investing in and operating liners, as well as developing the tourist destinations on the island city.

Specifically, the CCCC Ocean Investment Holding Co will establish a joint venture with the Zhoushan Communications Investment Group Co to operate the international cruise port of Zhoushan, and develop a comprehensive cruise tourism destination integrating marine cultural experiences, vocations, shopping and entertainment. 

Meanwhile, they will also develop special tourist events such as yacht and cruise tours on Mount Putuo and Zhujiajian Island, in order to boost the local tourism economy.
