Zhejiang Huaye Plastics Machinery Co, a company based in Zhoushan, Zhejiang province, is to use photovoltaic (PV) power generation at its plant from late July, in a move which it hopes will make the plant greener and increase energy use efficiency.

The company has installed 20,944 280V-polycrystalline-silicon-cell-modules on the 65,000-square-meter rooftop of its plant, with a total installed capacity of 5,864.32 kW and an expected annual power generation of 6.5 million kWh.

The PV power generation project will feature the largest ever installed capacity for a single roof in Zhoushan and it is expected to reduce the indoor temperature of the company's plant by three to six degrees in the summer under normal conditions.

It is predicted that around 16,000 tons of standard coals may be saved every year compared with the coal-fired power plant, and CO2, SO2 and NOX emissions may be reduced by around 360, 160 and 42,000 tons per year respectively.
