The provincial government work report was released during the fourth session of the 14th Zhejiang Provincial People's Congress in Hangzhou on Jan 14. The report repeatedly highlighted Shaoxing, underscoring its growing role in the province's economic and social development.

In its review of work in 2025 and progress made during the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25), the report cited several of Shaoxing's achievements.

Shaoxing yellow rice wine was included in the national list of historic industries under cultivation, while projects such as mixed-signal integrated circuits advanced steadily.

Progress in archaeological research at high-level Yue state ritual sites was also noted, reflecting strengthened efforts to protect cultural heritage. The opening of cultural landmarks was mentioned as part of Zhejiang's exploration of pathways to common prosperity.

Overall, the report portrayed Shaoxing as a city that has made coordinated progress in upgrading traditional industries, fostering strategic emerging sectors, developing new productive forces, and promoting cultural preservation over the past five years.

Looking ahead, the report set new expectations for Shaoxing to contribute to integrated development encompassing industry, urban growth, people's well-being, and culture.

As it develops into a globally competitive advanced manufacturing base, Zhejiang plans to support modern textile and apparel clusters while cultivating industries such as integrated circuits, new energy vehicles, and intelligent connectivity.

The report also emphasized improving social governance through continued application of the Fengqiao Experience, an area where Shaoxing, as its birthplace, is expected to play a leading role.

In addition, the city will strengthen its innovation capacity and ecological governance, including preparations for hosting the 2026 World Cleanup Day event.
