Three Shaoxing athletes to compete in Paris Olympics
The Chinese Olympic Committee announced it will send 405 athletes to the Paris Olympic Games on July 13. Among them, 37 hail from East China's Zhejiang province, with three notable names from Shaoxing.
The three Shaoxing athletes to compete in the Games include track and field athlete Xie Zhenye, swimmer Wu Qingfeng, and 3x3 basketball player Wan Jiyuan.
Xie Zhenye and Wan Jiyuan clinched bronze medals at the Tokyo Olympics, while Wu Qingfeng, along with her teammates, achieved a seventh-place finish in the 4x100m freestyle relay in Tokyo.
The Paris Olympics, scheduled to take place from July 26 to Aug 11, will mark the third time Paris has hosted the event, following the 1900 and 1924 Games. China, having qualified for 30 major events, 42 sub-events, and 236 individual events, will send a delegation of 716 participants in total, including 405 athletes.
