Shaoxing's economy advances in Q1
Shaoxing's GDP reached 185.2 billion yuan ($25.67 billion) in the first quarter, marking a 7.8 percent year-on-year increase and maintaining the same growth rate as last year, ranking first in Zhejiang province.
In the first quarter, the total retail sales of consumer goods amounted to 74.5 billion yuan, up 11.5 percent year on year, ranking first in the province, with a growth rate 2.4 percentage points faster than that of last year.
In the same period, the total import and export volume reached 106.3 billion yuan, up 17.1 percent year on year, with a growth rate 2.6 percentage points faster than that of last year.
Exports to traditional markets such as the United States and the European Union increased by 38.9 percent and 21.2 percent, respectively. Exports to emerging markets such as Africa, the Middle East, and countries participating in the Belt and Road Initiative increased by 27.5 percent, 10.5 percent, and 10.1 percent, respectively.
In the first quarter, the per capita disposable income of all residents reached 23,922 yuan, up 6.2 percent year on year. Among them, the per capita disposable income of urban residents was 28,067 yuan, up 5.5 percent, while that of rural residents was 15,918 yuan, up 7.5 percent.
The city also saw the establishment of 6,600 new enterprises, a decrease of 3.5 percent year on year; by the end of March, there were 786,200 market entities registered, an increase of 5.7 percent year on year.
