Shangyu Ciyuan Cultural Town opened to the public in Shangyu district, Shaoxing, on July 28.
"Ciyuan" means "the origin of celadon" and encompasses three essential elements: the origin of celadon, the genesis of new ceramic industry technologies, and the wellspring of ceramic craftsman.
The town aims to collaborate with research institutes, universities, and enterprises to bolster the development of traditional porcelain.
Spanning 130,000 square meters, the core area of the town houses various attractions, including a ceramic art center, reception building, art gallery, artist workshops, and an educational travel camp.
Zhu Jiangqiao, vice-director of Shangyu district, said that the opening of Shangyu Ciyuan Cultural Town provides a more substantial platform for the preservation of celadon culture and offers a prime opportunity for people to appreciate the charm of Shangyu's celadon.
He further emphasized that within this cultural haven, activities such as ceramic exhibitions, interactive pottery-making experiences, cultural exchanges, and academic seminars will unveil the unique allure of celadon and the profound cultural heritage of Shangyu.
