Keqiao district in Shaoxing, East China's Zhejiang province, has recognized 469 high-tech companies, up 27.4 percent year-on-year, according to the district authorities.
Statistics show that Keqiao has the most high-tech companies among all districts in Shaoxing.
Officials attributed the increase to the district's innovation-driven strategy and support provided to small and medium-sized companies.
Among the newly recognized high-tech companies is Chida Auto Parts Manufacturing Co Ltd, which manufactures over 100,000 sets of auto parts per day, said the company's general manager Pan Shaobo.
According to Pan, his company spends more than 20 million yuan ($3.14 million) in research and development each year, accounting for nearly 20 percent of its annual sales. Pan said that Chida now possesses 45 invention patents.
A total of 194 companies in Keqiao were included in a recently released list of high-tech companies recognized by the Zhejiang authorities, 101 more than last year.
