Sanwei Study was a famous private school in Shaoxing, Zhejiang province, in the late Qing Dynasty (1644-1911). The famous Chinese writer Lu Xun studied there from the ages of 12 to 17.
Sanwei Study was the study room in the residence of the local teacher Shou Jingwu who taught there for 60 years. The interior of the residence is basically the same as its original appearance.
Lu Xun's seat is in the northeast corner of the study. Lu once was criticized for being late for school. After that he carved the word "早", which means "early", on the upper right corner of his desk as a reminder to himself. The seat is now a must-see sight in the study.
