As Chinese New Year approaches, a curtain-raiser goods festival is on right now in Liandu district, Lishui, Zhejiang province, offering a shopping bonanza to both locals and tourists.

At the event, there are freshly made treats on offer such as snowflake crisps, rice candy, and cookie tarts. That's along with Jinyun shaobing, which is a Chinese-style meat pie that originated in Lishui's Jinyun county and is listed as a national intangible cultural heritage item. The enticing aromas of these local delicacies attract many passersby to stop and sniff the air.

The event continues through to Jan 25, featuring both on-site fairs and online livestreams. Local agricultural products are highly popular with customers – including Qingyuan sweet tangelos, Xiandu dried sweet potatoes, Jinyun handmade noodles, and Qingtian sugar cakes.

Over 60 officials, community workers, and volunteers went on a day-long special training session, preparing thoroughly for the upcoming series of online livestream activities for the New Year goods fairs.

All in all, the event is aiming to generate a festive atmosphere, make people keen to go shopping, and invigorate the New Year goods market.
