Cultural extravaganza to be staged in Lishui

As Chinese New Year approaches, Lishui in East China's Zhejiang province is making final preparations for a cultural extravaganza that promises to be rich in local flavor and be a blast for residents and visitors wanting to experience the unique charms of the city.

With over 500 events including rural Spring Festival galas, folk activities, fairs, and intangible cultural heritage performances, the city is expected to come alive with the wealth of cultural heritage and local customs.

There's going to be more than 200 cultural activities, over 200 rural Spring Festival galas, and nearly 100 intangible cultural heritage events.

From Jan 10 to 12, the Lishui Grand Theatre will host five performances of traditional Wuju Opera, a type of local opera in Zhejiang – enchanting fans with the timeless allure of traditional Chinese opera.

On Jan 11 and 12, a series of Lishui's rural Spring Festival galas will be held in Gefan village, Xiandu township, in Liandu district. This event will combine rural galas with intangible cultural heritage fairs, providing opportunities for locals and tourists to let their hair down and have some fun.

On top of that, libraries, cultural centers, museums, and new cultural spaces across the city will remain open during the festive period, boosting the holiday experience for both locals and visitors.
