The Zhejiang Province Cosmetics Industry High-Quality Development Conference, took place in Liandu district, Lishui, Zhejiang province, on Dec 27, along with the First Eco-Friendly Beauty Industry Development Meeting.

The conference marked the launch of Lishui to become China's eco-friendly beauty innovation zone, and the unveiling of the "Zhejiang Province Cosmetics Plant Raw Material Research Center Lishui Branch". Eight strategic agreements were signed to advance the high-quality development of Lishui's eco-friendly beauty industry.

A themed exchange on the regulation and industrial integration development in Zhejiang's eco-friendly beauty sector was also held. Industry experts, academics, and business representatives shared insights and strategies for the industry's future.

Zhejiang is home to 656 cosmetics manufacturers, ranking second nationwide, and with an output of 114.5 billion yuan (15.69 billion), it ranks third in the cosmetics industry. In 2023, its cosmetics exports lead the nation at 11.65 billion yuan, comprising 25.4 percent of the national total.

Lishui is the largest ecological cultivation area of plant raw materials in Zhejiang. It cultivates 251 of the 363 major Chinese herbal medicine varieties, covering 69.1 percent.

In recent years, Lishui has developed its eco-friendly beauty industry, establishing a comprehensive supply chain from plant raw material cultivation to eco-friendly beauty product production and e-commerce. Its products span facial skincare and makeup.

In the first three quarters of 2024, the city's output related to cosmetics reached 3.23 billion yuan, with exports of cosmetics and personal care products totaling 126 million yuan.
