Longquan's innovative bamboo products enter larger markets
From buttons, watches, mice, and bowls to tables, chairs, and cabinets, the Tao Li Bamboo Space of Wang Ou Ceramic Art Avenue in Longquan, a county-level city in Lishui, displays an impressive array of uniquely designed bamboo products.
These items highlight the rich history and thriving development of Longquan's bamboo industry, which has long been known for its quality bamboo flower stands, shoe racks, coat racks, and bookshelves that are popular the world over.
Longquan is fostering the Long Shang Zhu regional public brand, guiding local bamboo enterprises and e-commerce platforms in collaborative growth. Unique bamboo products like tableware, furniture, and curios are increasingly appealing to younger consumers.

Notably, advanced bamboo construction materials developed in Longquan have even been used in landmark buildings like the Bangalore Airport in India.
Longquan has currently achieved mass production of 56 varieties across three major categories listed in the 2023 "bamboo replacing plastic" product catalog issued by national authorities, achieving a production value of 2.6 billion yuan ($356.20 million). Its bamboo furniture accounts for over 60 percent of the national market in this category.
The city is planning to have 30 initial bamboo processing sites, with 21 already approved. These include a steaming center capable of processing 110 million bamboo strips annually.
