Waxberry farming is a key part of Qingtian's agriculture industry. In recent years, Qingtian county in Lishui has optimized the industrial structure of waxberry farming, enhanced policy support, and promoted the brand recognition of the industry.

The county's cultivation area of greenhouse waxberries currently sits at 1.83 square kilometers, an increase of 1 square kilometer year-on-year, with an estimated output value of 165 million yuan ($22.61 million).

Now is the most critical time for setting up waxberry greenhouses. From the foothills, one can see the waxberry trees covered by rows of neatly arranged greenhouses, resembling silver waves rolling through the mountains, making for a unique sight.

Each greenhouse is equipped with an intelligent temperature control system, increasing the efficiency and yield of waxberry greenhouse farming.

To address transportation difficulties and the fragility of the waxberries, the county has actively promoted mechanized transportation equipment like mountain rail cars, offering a 70-percent subsidy for related efforts.

"During the waxberry harvest season, we used to need over a dozen people for transportation. Now, with the rail car, one person can handle it," said Chen Shiping, a member of a farming household.

The county's productive waxberry area now sits at 64 square kilometers, with a yield of 63,700 metric tons and an output value of 765 million yuan.
