Songyang county's tea producers look at going organic
With organic tea having become a hot new trend in the domestic market in recent years, more and more tea farmers and producers in Songyang county – administered by Lishui city in East China's Zhejiang province – have begun to explore going organic.
Organic tea means that the tea is grown without the use of synthetic fertilizers, herbicides, or pesticides.
Songyang drafted a five-year plan (2021-25) last year on developing itself into an organic tea-producing town.
The county has been regularly holding training classes on organic tea production technology and conducting on-site instruction courses for tea farmers.
In addition, in terms of ecological planting and production, Songyang is promoting improvements to tea planting on its hills and slopes to create a good tea plantation ecosystem that is stable and sustainable.
Last year, Songyang had 71.33 hectares of organic tea under cultivation.
