Suichang's development of future villages in full swing
Hushan and Jiaochuan villages – located in Suichang county, administered by Lishui city in in East China's Zhejiang province – are said to be continuing to make great progress, in the wake of their inclusion in the first group of pilot villages for future village construction in the province.
Future villages in rural areas are innovative residential clusters which pursue an eco-friendly and digitalized rural lifestyle. Future villages encourage people to explore methods of development that include innovation, technology and cultural enrichment.
Aimed at providing a better life for its local residents and a second home for its foreign residents, Suichang is understood to have invested over 160 million yuan ($25.32 million) in its future village construction program since 2020.
With the program's professed values of "humanization, eco-friendliness, digitization", Suichang has reshaped the local environment, industry, infrastructure and culture – striving to create a modern version of an idyllic village that can "find nostalgia and still see the future".
Utilizing its special green resources of hot springs, lakes and forests, Hushan village is understood to have successfully combined the natural environment with digital technology – cooperating with more than 20 technology giants including Ali Cloud and attracting a large number of digital industry investments.
Jiaochuan village has invested more than 70 million yuan to build a modern agricultural park and an intelligent medical service center. A hybrid rice seed production base there with internet of things technology can provide practical guides about farming and harvesting to farmers, helping them to get rid of their dependence on the weather.
