The new Qingyuan Kengli and Longquan Zhulong biodiversity experience sites – both located in Lishui city in East China's Zhejiang province – opened on Feb 22, taking the lead in the country.
The two sites not only have indoor biodiversity experience halls, but also have outdoor experience areas which offer various activities. They also provide courses for people to get a deeper understanding of the field.
Lishui is said to have been working closely in recent years with the Nanjing Institute of Environmental Sciences, of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment.
The partners actively explored new approaches to biodiversity conservation and sustainable development, as well as proposed the construction of biodiversity experience sites.
The aim is to promote the deep integration of biodiversity conservation with eco-tourism and nature education. This will be done by further tapping the sustainable treasures contained in biodiversity, such as educational value and cultural inheritance.
