The striking and impressive Rose Castle homestay complex – located in Yunhe county, administered by Lishui city, in East China's Zhejiang province – recently received a carbon neutral certificate for its efforts in helping the country promote carbon neutrality.

The certificate is for the greenhouse gas equivalent emissions generated by Rose Castle, measured between June 1 and Nov 30 last year.

It is estimated that during the period, the direct greenhouse gas emissions and indirect greenhouse gas emissions caused by energy input of Rose Castle were the equivalent to 117 tons of carbon dioxide – one-third of the average carbon emissions of hotels of the same size.

Tian Jinghai, owner and architect of Rose Castle, said he has been committed to operating a low-carbon hotel since the site selection. Rose Castle is located on Juxian Island, situated in Xiangong Lake, where the green plants account for 82.5 percent of the total area.

Rose Castle adheres to low-carbon concepts in transportation, food materials and energy, among other things, according to Tian.
